Vehicle speed sensor service begins by disconnecting the No. 1 sensor connector then taking out its bolt for removal. The No. 1 vehicle speed sensor disassembly requires you to extract the O-ring from the speed meter driven gear assembly before removing the clip and speed meter driven gear from the speed meter driven gear sleeve. The speed meter driven gear sleeve assembly requires installation of its components before placing a new ATF-coated O-ring in position. Meet the following requirements to install the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor: use a bolt and torques it to 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.) before reattaching its connector. Start by disassembling the No. 2 vehicle speed sensor through bolt removal and disconnecting its connector. After that remove the O-ring from it. Apply AT on the new O-ring before installing the O-ring onto the No. 2 vehicle speed sensor unit. The no. 2 speed sensor should be fastened using 5.4 Nm (55 kgf cm) and 48 inch lbs torque before connecting its cable.

Follow the reverse order of removal.

Disconnect the speed sensor NT and SP2 connector, then remove the speed sensors NT and SP2 by taking out the 2 bolts and removing 2 O-rings.

Apply sealant (Part No. 08833-00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent).

Remove the clips and 3 clamp bolts that secure the sensor harness to the frame, upper arm, and steering knuckle, applying a torque of 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) for each bolt.

Insert the speedometer driven gear into the speedometer sensor with the clip, coat a new O-ring (part number: 12345) with ATF, install the O-ring to the speedometer driven gear assembly, and secure the sensor with the bolt, torquing it to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.), then connect the sensor connector.

Disconnect the speed sensor connector.

First, remove the front wheel, ensuring a torque of 110 N.m (1,122 kgf.cm, 81 ft.lbf).

It is important to check the speed sensor signal.

Begin by disconnecting the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor connector and removing the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor by taking out the bolt and O-ring. Install a new O-ring coated with ATF to the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor, then install the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor with the bolt, applying a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.), and finally connect the NO. 2 vehicle speed sensor connector.

Take out the 2 clamp bolts, clamp nut, and 5 resin clips that secure the sensor wire harness to the axle and fuel tank.

Begin by removing the front wheel, ensuring a torque of 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.).

Check the speed sensor signal.

Use new resin clips for installation and position them at the same angle as the removed clips.

Check the speed sensor signal.
