The installation of the rear axle shaft begins with Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 09951-00770 to tap in a new oil seal using a hammer while applying MP grease to the lip of the oil seal to prevent the contact of foreign matter with the axle shaft housing hole. First install the axle shaft by adding MP grease to a new O-ring which is then used to mount the axle shaft after which you should install the rear axle shaft and parking brake plate by torquing four nuts to 60 Nm (612 kgf-cm, 44 ft-lbf). After connecting the rear
Speed Sensor LH and the No. 3
Parking Brake Cable assembly and parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly LH you must secure the No. 2 and No. 1 parking brake shoe assemblies LH and parking brake shoe return tension spring LH. Operational tests of the parking brake occur before placing the rear disc LH into position while setting the brake shoe clearance. When attaching the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH, use two new bolts with torque of 95 Nm (969 kgf-cm, 70 ft-lbf). Follow the guidelines to avoid disturbing the flexible hose and ensure both bolts are free of damage and obstructive materials. The flexible hose can be connected to the brake tube by setting the connection point and installing a new clip before using a union nut wrench to fasten the hose to the tube at 15 Nm torque (155 kgf-cm) without the wrench and 14 Nm torque (145 kgf-cm) with it. During this process avoid both tube bending and damage and foreign matter entry. Reinstall the battery negative cable before filling the brake fluid reservoir and proceeding to bleed air from the
Brake Master Cylinder and
Brake Line and the ABS and traction actuator assembly. The brake reservoir requires inspection for fluid level together with a search for fluid leakage. The rear wheel LH needs to be installed and torqued to 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) if it has aluminum wheels while steel wheel installations require 209 Nm (2131 kgf-cm, 154 ft-lbf). Check the differential oil level and inspect for any oil leaks before checking and adjusting the parking brake pedal movement. The final step consists of inspecting the SRS warning light together with the speed sensor signal.
