A beginning step in starter motor replacement begins by disconnecting the battery negative terminal. First remove the engine under covers from the right side and the left side. First disconnect the starter connector [A] followed by removing the terminal cover before undertaking the procedure to detach the starter wire by removing the nut [C]. The starter can then be removed by uninstalling its two bolts. The starter assembly should be placed in position before tightening its bolts to 37 N.m (378 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf). Fasten the starter wire using nut [B] while applying 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf) torque then secure the terminal cover and reattach the starter connector [D]. Proceed by reinstating engine under covers on both sides before reconnecting the negative battery terminal while tightening it to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf).
