The Scion A/C Idler Pulley ensures that the air conditioning belt remains straight and silent allowing the drivers to get cool air without any squeaks. Scion was born in 2003 and shook the small-car market with paint, straightforward prices and personalization on its small models, and its Virtual Scion City campaigns appealed to first-time buyers where they desired something different. Limited Release Series models kept Scion new, and as a testing laboratory it sold over a million of them before the Scion was discontinued in 2016, but its innovative culture continues to percolate into the car culture. The A/C Idler Pulley is a smooth free-rotating wheel located between the component drive and that of the compressor, is designed to guide the compressor belt, maintain the compressor in the straight line, minimize drag, and shield the compressor against vibration. A/C Idler Pulley is easily swapped after getting too tired. Park on a flat and allow the engine to cool and pull the negative battery cable. Trace the belt line, and push the tensioner to loosen the belt and get it off the pulley. Take out the old pulley bolt, remove the old part, wipe out the bracket and compare the new one to the former. Install the new A/C Idler Pulley, apply a small amount of threadlocker where indicated in the instructions and screw the bolt in to the spec until the wheel is kept square to the bracket. Install the belt in the manner as illustrated, pull tension on the belt, using your hand to turn the pulley and ensure smoothness, reconnect the battery, start the engine and hear a quiet whir, which means you have succeeded.
