2010 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: What are the required procedures and safety precautions for deploying and disposing of a front seat outer belt with a seat belt pretensioner during scrapping on 2010 Toyota Camry?
A: You must activate a seat belt pretensioner system before scrapping any vehicle or destroying a front seat outer belt that has such a system. Contact TOYOTA MOTOR SALES U.S.A., INC SERVICE DEPT in case an abnormality occurs during deployment. Discarding a front seat outer belt assembly must never occur when the pretensioner has not been activated so carry out these procedures beyond residential areas. For front seat outer belt operations keep at least 10m (33 ft) distance from the area during activation while wearing gloves and safety glasses during handling of a pretensioned front seat belt. Hand washing with water must follow every operation while you should never spray water on pretensioned front seat belts. The specified SRS Air Bag deployment tool requires deployment only when electrical interference is eliminated. The Special Service Tool: 09082-00700 and Special Service Tool: 09082-00770 must be checked by connecting their black connector to the battery negative (-) terminal and their red clip to the battery positive (+) terminal prior to initial yellow connector attachment. The tool cannot be used if LED lights up without pressing the deployment switch. Two Special Service Tool: 09082-00700 should connect to the front seat outer belt pretensioner but avoid locking the secondary pretensioner connector lock. When ready to activate the pretensioner through the deployment switch it is essential to maintain a 10 m (33 ft) distance from the vehicle front and verify that all doors are closed and no one exists within 10 m (33 ft) of the area. The front seat outer belt assembly along with the Special Service Tool must be removed after deployment while the outer belt should be placed in a plastic bag to become general waste through proper disposal. Leaving the hot outer belt alone is essential since it demands at least thirty minutes to cool down while you need both gloves and safety glasses to handle it. Before vehicle scrapping, activate the front seat outside pretensioners then proceed to destroy the car while it contains pretensioned devices.
