2010 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Knock Sensor on 2010 Toyota Camry?
A: The first step from removing the Knock Sensor in the 2AZ-FXE engine control system requires fuel system pressure reduction. After disconnecting the negative battery terminal the following procedure should be followed. Start by taking out the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly while draining coolant from the system after which you must remove both left and right windshield wiper arm and blade assemblies. The procedure requires removal of both front fender to cowl side seals and the subsequent removal of the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. The brake master cylinder reservoir sub-assembly needs separation before removing the windshield wiper motor and link and 4 bolts and 4 nuts to remove the cowl top panel outer sub-assembly. Start by taking out the air cleaner cap sub-assembly followed by the air cleaner case sub-assembly and completing the procedure with removal of the throttle body. First disconnect the fuel tube before taking out the fuel delivery pipe with its injector. The last step is intake manifold removal which involves disconnecting the union to check valve hose from the brake booster then unconnecting the camshaft timing oil control valve connector followed by wire harness clamp removal and disconnecting the union to check valve hose from the vacuum hose clamp. Begin by removing the 5 bolts securing the intake manifold and then the 2 nuts. After gasket removal, work on disconnecting the knock sensor connector then remove its nut and the knock sensor from the engine.
