• Q: How to remove the knock sensor on 2009 Toyota Camry?

  A: Before removing the knock sensor from the 2AZ-FE engine control system one must first drain the system pressure. The cable should be removed from the negative terminal of the battery next. Purge the coolant by removing the No. 1 engine cover. Disassemble the windshield wiper arm assemblies from left and right sides and proceed with removing the front fender to cowl side seals from both sides. Separate the windshield wiper motor along with its link and the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. Proceed to uninstall the cowl top panel outer sub-assembly while unfastening its 4 bolts and 4 nuts. The maintenance procedure requires removal of the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and air cleaner case sub-assembly before proceeding to disconnect the throttle body. First disconnect the fuel tube from its opening before removing the fuel delivery pipe together with its injector. The procedure requires removal of the intake manifold after disconnecting the brake booster union to check valve hose along with the camshaft timing oil control valve connector and wire harness clamp before detaching the union to check valve hose from the vacuum hose clamp.
