2010 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensor on 2010 Scion xD?
A: The front speed sensor installation requires users to fasten the sensor to the steering knuckle through a bolt with precise torque of 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf). All checks should verify that the speed sensor tip area as well as the installation area are free of contamination before sensor installation without damaging the sensor's original mounting angle. Move to the No. 1 sensor clamp which attaches to the shock absorber with a bolt torque at 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf) and use a bolt at the No. 2 sensor clamp that requires a torque of 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). The body receives clamp D first along with clamp C and clamp B until the speed sensor connector establishes its connection before final clamp A installation onto the body. The sensor installation procedure should be followed by installing the front fender liner with side mudguard and rocker panel moulding cover. The front wheel must be secured with 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) torque and VSC sensor signal verification is needed.
