2010 Scion xD Brake Line Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the rear Brake Line on 2010 Scion xD?
A: The installation of the rear brake flexible hose requires positioning it with two new clips onto the axle beam. Application begins with joining the brake tubes to the flexible hose through the use of a union nut wrench while a wrench maintains hose position; non-communication through a union nut wrench requires torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) but the wrench enables a torque of 14 Nm (144 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). One can reach this specified torque value by using a torque wrench with a 300 mm (11.8 in.) fulcrum combined with a 22 mm (0.866 in.) union nut wrench which must maintain a straight line relationship to the torque wrench. After filling the brake fluid reservoir proceed with bleeding the master cylinder followed by bleeding the brake line and finally bleeding the brake actuator. Examine both the reservoir fluid level and scan for brake fluid leaks after the checks end. The last installation step requires you to torque the rear wheel up to 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf).
