2009 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front Brake Line on 2009 Scion xD?
A: Begin front brake flexible hose installation by attaching it with a union bolt and adding a fresh gasket while using 30 Nm of torque (310 kgf-cm or 22 ft-lbf). Secure the brake cylinder disc lock hole by placing the flexible hose inside. The flexible hose assembly should be secured to the speed sensor with a bolt which requires a torque of 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf) before the hose is allowed to freely spin. Begin installation of the flexible hose with a new clip before connecting the brake tube to the flexible hose through the use of a union nut wrench; grant the flexible hose support using a wrench then set the torque to 14 Nm (144 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) when using a union nut wrench or 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) when not using one. The recommended torque required for this operation can be generated by a combination of a 300 mm (11.8 in.) torque wrench and a 22 mm (0.866 in.) union nut wrench that should maintain parallel alignment with the torque wrench. Brake fluid should be added to the reservoir following installation before performing master cylinder bleeding and brake line and brake actuator bleeding using VSC. Check that the reservoir contains the correct fluid amount while looking for any brake fluid leakage before tightening the front wheel with a torque of 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf).
