2010 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the knock sensor on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The first step to remove the knock sensor from 2AZ-FE engine systems requires you to drain fuel system pressure. Next, drain the coolant. Begin by taking off the windshield wiper arm cover and continuing with both front wiper arm and blade assembly removal from the left and right sides of the vehicle. Next move on to uninstall the hood to cowl top seal before taking off the cowl top ventilator louvers from left and right sides. Remove the front wiper motor along with its link before proceeding with the outer cowl top panel. One must start by removing the No. 1 engine cover and then proceed with removing the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with its attached No. 1 air cleaner hose. The work procedure demands removal of the throttle body assembly followed by the fuel tube sub-assembly then the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly with its corresponding fuel tube sub-assembly. You should first disconnect ventilation hoses followed by removing the union to check valve hose before separating the wire harness clamp from the intake manifold. The mechanic proceeds to uninstall the 5 bolts and 2 nuts while extracting the intake manifold with its matching gasket. Proceed by taking away the No. 1 intake manifold insulator. To access the knock sensor first disconnect its connector then remove the retaining nut before pulling it out.
