2010 Scion xB Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The first step to remove the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor for the 2AZ-FE engine control system is to drain the engine coolant. The air cleaner assembly removal sequence includes disconnecting the mass air flow meter connector followed by harness separation then No. 1 vacuum switching valve release before disconnection of ventilation hose and separation of No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose. After loosening the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp and unlocking the air cleaner assembly clamp, remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with its attached No. 1 air cleaner hose. First disconnect the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly followed by wire harness separation then unfasten three bolts to detach the air cleaner case sub-assembly. To remove the engine coolant temperature sensor along with its gasket use Special Service Tool: 09817-33190 after disconnecting its connector.
