2010 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the park/neutral safety switch assembly onto the manual valve lever shaft on 2010 Scion xB?
A: Begin installation of the park/neutral position switch assembly on the manual valve lever shaft by putting the 2 bolts in their places provisionally while replacing the lock plate with a brand new one followed by tightening the manual valve shaft nut to 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf). First install the control shaft lever provisionally then rotate it counterclockwise until it reaches the end followed by clockwise rotation of two notches before removal. First align the groove with the neutral basic line while keeping the switch in position and tighten the 2 bolts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). To complete the installation, install the control shaft lever with the nut following proper torque setting of 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). The control shaft lever receives the transmission control cable assembly together with the nut before torquing to 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) and the connector completes attachment to the park/neutral position switch assembly. Install the No. 2 battery carrier followed by the battery as the next installation step. Check the shift lever position before adjusting it accordingly to examine the park/neutral position switch assembly.
