2009 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensor on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: Begin the installation process of the front speed sensor by fastening it with a bolt that needs to be tightened to 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf). The critical distance between the magnet rotor and front speed sensor requires preventative measure against foreign matter on the sensor tip and filing off of both hole and contact surface. You must first apply the clamp to the shock absorber then briefly mount the No. 1 sensor clamp. Fasten the brake flexible hose using a bolt where you need to apply a torque of 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf) before ensuring the wire harness for the front speed sensor stays untwisted and placing the front speed sensor above the flexible hose. Use the bolt to install the No. 2 sensor clamp on the body and tighten it to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). Secure the wire harness clamp of the speed sensor before extending the speed sensor connector. You must lastly attach the front fender liner before tightening the front wheel at a torque of 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). To verify the speed sensor signal check the negative battery terminal connection before final completion.
