2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the ignition coil on 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first step to remove an ignition coil from a 1GR-FE engine requires disconnecting the negative battery cable. The V-bank cover should be removed first followed by the air cleaner assembly and then the oil baffle plate and final step is the removal of the No. 1 surge tank stay. The ventilation hose should be detached from the intake air surge tank. The approach for Bank 1 includes disconnecting its 3 connectors followed by removing 3 bolts to finally extract the 3 ignition coils. After disconnecting the 3 connectors from Bank 2 the technician should remove the 3 bolts before taking off the 3 ignition coils.
