2009 Toyota Avalon Shock Absorber Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring from the LH side on 2009 Toyota Avalon?
A: The removal process begins by removing the front wheel before proceeding toward the front shock absorber with coil spring on the LH side. Separate the front stabilizer link assembly LH by removing its nut then disconnecting it from the shock absorber assembly front LH while using a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to stabilize the stud when the ball joint turns with the nut. The front shock absorber lock nut requires loosening for shock absorber disassembly; however, shock absorber extraction does not need lock nut loosening. To disconnect both the front flexible hose No. 1 and speed sensor front LH wire harness remove the provided bolt. Remove the lower shock absorber nuts with care by keeping the positioned bolts inside and tighten the hex key (6mm) on the stud if the ball joint turns with the nuts. The first task involves removing the three nuts from the upper part of the front shock absorber with coil spring. After this step is complete, you must uninstall the two bolts securing the front shock absorber with coil spring at its lower section but keep a watchful eye for the collar to avoid dropping it if there is a front suspension upper brace center.
