2009 Toyota Avalon Suspension Strut Rod Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the rear Suspension Strut Rod on 2009 Toyota Avalon?
A: Start installation of the rear strut rod by inserting the strut rod (rear side) along with bolt and nut while keeping the bolt on the inside of the vehicle. Fluke the temporary tightening by securing the rear strut rod. Tighten the strut rod (front side) with a bolt as well as a nut while also tightening the bolt only temporarily. The suspension needs stabilization through a rear axle carrier lift using a wooden block to avoid damage while applying slow force for horizontal alignment between the suspension arm assembly No. 1 (inner side of the vehicle) bolt and rear axle center hub. Secure both rear and front strut rod bolts at 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf) while making sure the nut stays fixed to the installation surface. The parking brake cable requires a bolt that reaches 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf) during installation. To complete installation install the rear wheel while tightening it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 6 ft-lbf) and perform required inspections and adjustments to rear wheel alignment.
