• Q: How to remove the fuel injectors on 2009 Scion xB?

  A: A proper procedure for accessing the 2AZ-FE fuel injectors begins with fuel system pressure discharge. The first step involves taking apart the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly together with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly which contains the hose. The fuel main tube requires removal from its connection to the fuel hose clamp along with the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp but avoid bending or twisting or kinking the tube. Special Service Tool 09268-21010 should be used at this time with the tool's chamfered part used to align the retainer into the fuel tube connector. Place the tool inside the fuel tube while using the connector to push toward the tool and fitting the retainer onto the tool's chamfered section. Insert the tool with connector until they click into place, then dispose of remaining fuel by draining it from the removed parts which should be covered with plastic material. Start by disconnecting the No. 2 ventilation hose from the ventilation valve after removing the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly through two wire harness clamp removal and disconnecting the four fuel injector connectors. Use the socket wrench to remove both delivery pipe bolts so you can pull out the fuel delivery pipe including the four fuel injectors with care to maintain them in position before removing two spacers and four insulators from the cylinder head. The last step includes removing the four fuel injectors from the fuel delivery pipe.
