2009 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you install the rear coil spring and ensure proper alignment and stabilization on 2009 Scion xB?
A: The first step of installing the rear coil spring begins with mounting the rear coil spring upper insulator on top of the spring so the stopper clearance from the coil spring end measures less than 10 mm (0.39 in.). Begin by fitting the rear coil spring lower insulator before placing the rear coil spring onto the rear axle beam with correct orientation of its identification mark. After performing temporary tightening of the LH rear shock absorber assembly follow the same procedure for the RH side assembly. Reach and connect the skid control sensor wire for LH and RH sides through the same sequence of steps. Begin by mounting the rear wheels followed by the installation of rear floor side member brace sub-assembly before challenging with rear floor side member covers which will be applied to both right-hand and left-hand sides. Full suspension stabilization must occur before performing complete tightening of the rear axle beam assembly and the rear shock absorber assembly on both sides. The inspection of rear wheel alignment and the VSC sensor signal monitoring should complete the procedure.
