    Q:
How do you install the rear coil spring and ensure proper alignment and stabilization on Scion xB? Posted by Customer
    A:
First install the rear coil spring upper insulator onto the spring while verifying that its stopper and upper end measure 10 mm (0.39 in.) or less apart. You should first mount the rear coil spring lower insulator before installing the rear coil spring onto the rear axle beam and placing its identification mark at the specified location. The rear shock absorber assembly should receive temporary tightening modifications while performing the same procedures on the right-hand side. The connection of skid control sensor wires should be done the same way for both LH and RH sides. The installation process begins with rear wheels followed by the rear floor side member brace sub-assembly before you cover the rear floor side member with both RH and LH components. After suspension stabilization apply a full tension to both rear axle beam assemblies along with rear shock absorber assemblies for both sides. The inspection of rear wheel alignment and observation of VSC sensor signal should conclude the repair process. Special Service Tool: 09950-00010.

    Q:
How do you remove the rear coil spring on Scion xB? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for removing the rear coil spring starts with wheel removal from the rear. Begin by removing both the rear floor side member cover to the left hand side and the rear floor side member cover to the right hand side. The maintenance begins with removing the rear floor side member brace sub-assembly followed by separating the skid control sensor wires of both LH and RH sides. Support the spring seat of the rear axle beam assembly with a jack and wooden block but do not overextend the jack height while loosening the 2 spring bolts but leaving them in place. Slightly alter the rear shock absorber assembly LH and the rear shock absorber assembly RH by themselves. Lower the jack until you remove the rear coil spring. Properly position the identification mark if you use the spring again. In case the mark is missing apply new paint according to the indicated area. After extending the rear axle beam assembly past its full rebound position keep it out of position for a maximum of 10 minutes only. The technician should remove the rear coil spring upper insulator followed by the rear coil spring lower insulator.
