2008 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you remove the rear coil spring on 2008 Scion xB?
A: The first step in removing the rear coil spring starts with dismounting the rear wheels followed by removing the LH and RH rear floor side member covers after detaching the rear floor side member brace sub-assembly. Frown the skid control sensor wires for the left-hand and right-hand sides while following exactly the same method between sides. The rear axle beam assembly spring seat needs support from a jack combined with a wooden block while keeping jack elevation minimal. After this support, remove the two bolts without complete removal of hardware. The procedure for separating the rear shock absorber assemblies applies exactly the same method between the RH and LH sides. Use a jack to slowly lower it for removing the rear coil spring while keeping the identification mark correctly positioned following the indications. When the mark is absent, apply new paint at its specified location. At full rebound position move the rear axle beam assembly only if safety clearance does not exceed 10 minutes before examining the RH side identification mark in the same way as the LH side. The last step involves the removal of both the upper and lower insulators from the rear coil spring.
