2008 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to reassemble the front shock absorber with coil spring on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The process to reassemble the front shock absorber with coil spring for 2WD starts with front coil spring LH compression using Special Service Tools: 09727-30021, 09727-00010, 09727-00031 but prevents the usage of impact wrenches to protect the tools from damage. Set the front coil spring onto the shock absorber front by fitting its lower end into the spring lower seat gap. The assembly of the front shock absorber cushion retainer should start first followed by the front coil spring insulator upper and finally the front suspension support sub-assembly. Position the front shock absorber cushion No. 1 followed by the front shock absorber cushion retainer. Position the suspension support correctly with the absorber bush according to the illustration and install a new lock nut by tightening it to 27 Nm (275 kgf-cm, 20 ft-lbf) with caution because impact wrenches could damage the shock absorber rod. Release the coil spring and inspect the position of the suspension support at this time.
