The first step to installing the rear leaf spring starts with the installation of rear spring shackle sub-assembly Number 2 with through bolt, washer and nut. Install the rear leaf spring into the axle housing by placing its hole over the spring center bolt head then fasten it with a through bolt, washer, and nut. The installation of the rear spring U bolt for 2WD starts with placing the spring seat followed by 2 U-bolts, 4 washers, and 4 nuts which should be tightened to a torque of 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf) while maintaining equal length between all U-bolts under the spring seat. To install the spring bumper on 4WD and Pre-Runner vehicles, users must start with the spring seat followed by 2 U-bolts, 4 washers and 4 nuts. Torque all of these components to 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf) before making sure that U-bolt lengths are equivalent.
