2008 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to reassemble the radiator on 2008 Toyota Sienna?
A: Installing the lower radiator tank requires checking that no obstruction remains in the lock plate groove followed by a precise O-ring installment without twisting it; sandpaper lightly cleans the groove. Use a plastic-faced hammer to strike the lock plate gently in a way that seals the tank with no blows to the pipe areas or brackets or ribs. The punch assembly connected to the overhaul handle requires insertion into part A's hole while using Special Service Tools 09231-01010, 09230-01010, 09231-01020, and 09231-14010 to properly adjust the stopper bolt for 8.8 mm (0.347 in.) measurement at dimension B. Apply Special Service Tool: 09230-01010 weakly to the lock plate in sequence then press the handle to stop at the stopper bolt position while keeping the ports A and brackets B areas free from crimping. Verify that the lock plate height A also measures 8.8 mm (0.347 in.) after crimping and correct it if required. The installation of the upper radiator tank matches the method used for the lower tank installation. You must install fresh O-rings on both drain plug and air drain plug before they get secured in their positions. To inspect radiator leaks plug the inlet and outlet pipes with Special Service Tool: 09230-01010, 09231-00030, and 09231-00060. Use a standard test pressure of 177 kPa (1.8 kgf/cm2, 26 psi) via a radiator cap tester while completely submerging the radiator in water before its initial swishing to get rid of air bubbles. The water inlet radiator needs two bolts that should be tightened to 7.1 Nm (72 kgf-cm, 63 in-lbf).
