2009 Toyota Sienna Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the radiator on 2009 Toyota Sienna?
A: Start radiator installation by connecting the inlet hose to the radiator component while using a bolt which should be tightened to 7.1 Nm (72 kgf-cm, 63 in-lbf). The installation sequence begins by fastening the No. 2 radiator support through its 2 bolts with 12.7 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 112 in-lbf) torque. After that, install the 2 radiator support lowers. Start by attaching the fan shroud with fan motor to the radiator while torquing two bolts to 6 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 4 ft-lbf). Follow all steps to install the radiator assembly by connecting the fan shroud and fan motor then fasten the condenser assembly with two bolts applying 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) torque. There are six bolts on the No. 1 radiator support that need installation with these torque specifications: Bolt A requires 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) while Bolt B needs 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) torque and Bolt C requires 6 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 4 ft-lbf). The clamp must be attached. The technician should start by mounting two support cushions to the front of the first radiator support before tightening two pressure feed tube bolts to 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 in-lbf). Attach the RH headlight bracket with three nuts before hooking in the 3 claws for the installation of the RH radiator side deflector. The installation procedure for the headlight assembly RH mirrors that of the LH side. The No. 2 oil cooler outlet tube sub-assembly needs installation through 2 bolts which should be torqued to 6 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 4 ft-lbf) while the No. 1 transmission oil cooler hoses require connection to the radiator with No. 1 oil cooler inlet and outlet hoses being linked to the No. 2 oil cooler outlet tube sub-assembly. 4 bolts should be used to attach the radiator upper support sub-assembly at 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf) torque setting followed by connecting the cooling fan ECU connector with its clamp attachment. Fasten the hood lock support sub-assembly using two bolts then put on the clamp before linking the ambient temperature sensor and low pitched horn and high pitched horn connectors. Secure the hood lock assembly cables using 3 bolts which should be torqued to 8 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 6 ft-lbf). Apply the hood courtesy switch connector during this operation. After installing the hood lock release lever protector using 4 claws you can proceed to connect the No. 2 radiator hose before moving on to attach the No. 1 radiator hose and the radiator reserve tank hose or pipe. You should add and bolt the No. 1 air cleaner inlet, front bumper energy absorber and front bumper assembly while fitting the battery together with the No. 2 air cleaner inlet. The service engineer should add engine coolant then inspect for coolant leaks before adding automatic transaxle fluid while checking the fluid level afterward. The installation of the final components includes the under cover No. 1 engine together with the V-bank cover sub-assembly. Headlight and fog light aim adjustment procedures should be completed before the vehicle is ready.
