2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Steering Knuckle Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the steering knuckle on the LH side on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The installation of the LH steering knuckle begins with pressing in the new oil seal through Special Service Tools 09950-60020 and 09951-01030 being careful not to break the non-reusable part. You should first use nuts to connect the steering knuckle to the front suspension upper arm while torquing the nut to 110 Nm (1122 kgf-cm, 81 ft-lbf) before installing a new clip while potentially adjusting the nut. The front lower ball joint attachment LH requires attachment before connecting the tie rod end LH to the steering knuckle with a nut that needs torquing to 69 Nm (704 kgf-cm, 51 ft-lbf). After this install a new cotter pin, the nut can be adjusted if required. Install the front axle hub sub-assembly LH followed by connecting the front speed sensor LH with a 5 mm hexagon socket threading a bolt which requires 8.3 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 73 in-lbf) torque and ensuring the sensor tip and magnetic rotor remain free from foreign substances. The skid control sensor clamp and wire need a bolt installation at 13 Nm torque setting (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Next install the front wheel while torquing it to 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) after which attach the cable to the negative battery terminal. The inspection of speed sensor signals along with the SRS warning light initializes front wheel alignment checking and adjustment procedures. The measurement of vehicle height must be followed by shutter valve closure on the accumulator housing and stabilizer control valve protector installation before headlight assembly adjustment.
