2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the steering knuckle on the LH side on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The first step to remove the steering knuckle on the LH side requires you to start by taking off the stabilizer control valve protector before opening the stabilizer control using the accumulator housing shutter valve. Start by detaching the negative battery cable followed by removing the bolt from the skid control sensor clamp and sensor wire on the front speed sensor LH. Then use a 5 mm hexagon socket to separate the bolt and speed sensor from the knuckle without rotating the sensor. To begin with disconnect the front axle hub sub-assembly LH before proceeding to detach the tie rod end sub-assembly LH by removing its cotter pin and nut. Special Service Tool: 09610-20012 helps disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle without damaging the front disc brake dust cover and steering knuckle and ball joint dust cover. Use Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to detach the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle while supporting the front suspension lower arm LH with a jack and removing the clip and nut. When performing this remove the ball joint dust cover to avoid damage. The installation process ends with steering knuckle removal followed by the tapping out procedure of the LH steering knuckle oil seal using a screwdriver and hammer.
