2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear shock absorber assembly on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Begin by attaching the shock absorber onto the lower bracket and holding it in position with Special Service Tool: 09922-10010. Begin by using Special Service Tool: 09922-10010 to keep the rear shock absorber steady before installing the rear shock absorber with its upper bracket along with the nut and then securing the lower shock absorber side using the bolt. Install the bolt onto the lower side of the shock absorber on the RH side during temporary installation. You should then install the lateral control rod along with the nut and bolt. The suspension needs stabilization by fastening the rear wheels with torque of 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) after lowering the vehicle and repeatedly pressing it down before removing the wheels. For both the LH and RH rear shock absorber assemblies tighten first the nut to 53 Nm (540 kgf-cm, 39 ft-lbf) then the bolt to 98 Nm (999 kgf-cm, 72 ft-lbf). Secure the rear lateral control rod assembly nut through tightening at 150 Nm (1530 kgf-cm, 111 ft-lbf). Screw the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to its bolt until it reaches 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) torque and then connect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly with its bolt maintaining the same torque level. After connecting the breather hose to the rear axle housing install the rear wheel to 131 Nm (1336 kgf-cm, 97 ft-lbf) torque and measure the vehicle height before closing the stabilizer control with its accumulator housing shutter valve and installing the stabilizer control valve protector.
