2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the exhaust manifold on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Beginning the exhaust manifold removal process requires removal of both LH and RH front fender splash shields then removal of No. 1 and No. 2 engine under covers. After the sub-assemblies of No. 1 and No. 2 engine under cover you should proceed with their removal. Extricate the front fender apron seals at both positions on the LH and RH sides using a clip remover device. The next step requires the removal of the engine oil level dipstick guide after which you should disconnect both the tailpipe assembly and center exhaust pipe assembly followed by the front No. 2 and front exhaust pipe assembly. Use an Allen key to loosen the 2 bolts securing the propeller shaft heat insulator before removing the No. 2 manifold stay along with the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator by unfastening its bolts. The exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH needs removal by first removing 10 nuts then the exhaust manifold before removing the 2 gaskets. The technician should proceed with the bolt removal of No. 1 manifold stay and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator. Dispose of the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH through the removal of 2 nuts combined with exhaust manifold insulator and the subsequent disassembly of 10 nuts and exhaust manifold while removing 2 gaskets.
