2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Air Injection Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Air Injection Pump on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable is the starting point for removing the Air Injection Pump. The first step involves removing the front fender splash shield sub-assembly RH and then the front fender liner RH by unfastening the screw to separate it from the front bumper cover while using a T30 "TORX" socket to remove 3 screws and taking out 5 clips. Access to the air pump can be achieved by partially detaching the fender liner. You should disassemble the front fender apron seal front RH with 3 bolts and a screw by unclipping its attachment point to remove the fender splash shield. Take off the V-bank cover sub-assembly together with the air cleaner hose assembly and the air cleaner assembly. Unbolt the No. 2 air injection hose by removing 3 hose clamps at the engine room and disconnecting it at both hose terminals on front fender right-hand side. The repair requires removing the clamp and No. 3 hose on the engine room side followed by disposing of the clamp and No. 3 hose from the air pump inside the front fender RH and removing the clamp from the bracket. This operation requires detachment of two air pump connectors followed by removal of 3 wire harness claws before removing two bolts and two nuts on the air pump assembly with bracket. To remove the air pump inlet first loosen two bolts then disconnect the No. 1 air injection system hose with two hose connections followed by detaching two clamps and disconnecting six air pump insulators.
