2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Knock Sensor on 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: A driver must empty fuel system pressure before starting the process to remove the Knock Sensor from a 1GR-FE engine. First disconnect the chain sub-assembly and then take off the No. 1 cool air inlet. The exhaust pipe stopper bracket needs to be removed in 4WD models before extracting the No. 2 front exhaust pipe assembly and front exhaust pipe assembly. Remove the manifold stay as well as the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH after finishing these steps. The work sequence requires removal of the intake manifold with the water by-pass joint RR after disconnecting the No. 1 and No. 2 fuel pipe sub-assemblies. Afterward remove the camshaft timing gears together with the Bank 1 No. 2 chain before moving on to remove the No. 2 chain tensioner assembly. The Bank 1 camshafts must be removed first followed by extracting the No. 2 camshaft bearing and the cylinder head sub-assembly. First detach the cylinder head gasket along with the disconnection of the heater water inlet hose from the water outlet pipe. To begin the camshaft adjustment work start by removing the No. 1 water outlet pipe through detachment of its 4 wire harness clamps and 3 bolts. Among all steps end with unhooking the knock sensor connectors and pulling out the 2 bolts together with both knock sensors.
