2008 Toyota Camry Shock Absorber Parts Q&A
Q: How to reassemble the rear shock absorber on 2008 Toyota Camry?
A: The reassembly process starts with inserting the rear No. 1 spring bumper onto the piston rod and afterward placing the rear coil spring lower insulator onto the rear shock absorber. Special Service Tools: 09727-30021 along with 09727-00010 should be used to compress the rear coil spring while making sure an impact wrench does not apply force to the operation. Position the rear coil spring onto the rear shock absorber so the smaller end points upwards toward the gap of the lower seat and the process can be assisted with two special service tools when the front coil spring requires angled compression. You should install the rear suspension support assembly while maintaining the orientation of the notches between the piston rod and rear suspension support assembly according to the previous installation instructions. Shield the shock absorber notches to align them against the rear suspension support assembly features before they face the vehicle exterior. Drive in the rear shock absorber collar followed by a first installation of the new lock nut to the back suspension piston rod. Adjust the rear suspension support assembly into its specified position after releasing the spring and taking out the Special Service Tool from the rear coil spring but avoid using an impact wrench. During stud bolt alignment for the rear suspension support assembly keep the errors to a maximum permissible range of ± 5 degrees.
