2008 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front lower ball joint and related components on 2008 Toyota Camry?
A: Begin front lower ball joint installation by connecting it to the steering knuckle with the nut to a torque specification of 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91 ft-lbf) while keeping oil away from screw and tapered components. Insert a new cotter pin afterward before tightening the nut upwards to 60 degrees when the hole alignment of the pin differs from standard. After you install the front axle hub bearing you must add the front disc brake dust cover followed by the front axle hub and front axle hub hole snap ring along with the front wheel No. 1 bearing dust deflector. The service requires installing the front axle assembly first and then the front suspension lower No. 1 arm while tying the rod end sub-assembly last. Fasten the front axle nut after installing the front disc, front disc brake caliper assembly and front speed sensor. Separate the front disc brake caliper assembly first before you inspect both front axle hub bearing looseness and runout on the removed front disc. First reinstall the front disc along with the front disc brake caliper assembly and finally attach the front axle hub nut. Inspect the ABS speed sensor signal to verify correct operation of BOSCH as well as ADVICS systems. The front wheel needs to be installed with 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) torque and both front wheel alignment checks should be performed.
