2008 Toyota Avalon Ball Joint Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the lower ball joint assembly front LH and complete the front suspension assembly on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: The installation of the front LH lower ball joint assembly begins with securing it to the steering knuckle through the castle nut until it reaches 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91 ft-lbf) torque then adding a new cotter pin; aligning misaligned cotter pin holes requires additional tightening of the nut up to 60 degrees. After the front axle assembly LH go to install the front lower suspension arm before finishing with the tie rod assembly LH. Based on the installation sequence install the disc wheel then install the front disc brake caliper assembly LH. The technician installs the front wheel followed by torqueing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) after attaching the speed sensor front LH and the front axle hub LH nut. The technician should inspect front wheel alignment and verify ABS speed sensor functionality by implementing correct steps for cars with or without Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
