The service of the engine oil cooler begins by removing the V-bank cover and draining engine coolant. The first step involves removing the oil filter sub-assembly with the oil cooler assembly through disconnecting the oil cooler hose and No. 2 oil cooler hose before removing the union bolt, plate washer and oil cooler followed by the O-ring from the oil cooler. A thorough examination of the oil cooler assembly requires replacement in case of damage or clogging. Before installation begin by cleaning the oil cooler contact surface on the cooler mounting. Place a light engine oil coating on a new O-ring before installation within the oil cooler. The installation should finish by applying a thin engine oil layer to the oil cooler union bolt threads. You should position the oil filter bracket protrusion into the oil cooler cutout before tightening it with the oil cooler union bolt and plate washer at 68 N m (693 kgf cm, 50 ft. lbf). Install the oil cooler hose along with the No. 2 oil cooler hose to the cooler before adding the oil filter sub-assembly. Finally place the V-bank cover while ensuring all previous tasks including engine oil and engine coolant addition, oil level check, oil and coolant leak inspection have been completed.
