2007 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the radiator on 2007 Toyota Tundra?
A: Starting the radiator replacement requires removal of engine under cover No. 1 followed by draining engine coolant. The first step becomes removing V-bank cover before disconnecting radiator hose inlets and outlets for fan shroud removal through 4 nut loosening for fluid coupling fan and fan/generator V-belt removal and disconnecting the reservoir hose from the radiator tank upper and lastly bulleting the fan shroud with two bolts. Begin by removing the 4 nuts of the fluid coupling fan before safely extracting the shroud and coupling fan while maintaining core protection before you detach the fan pulley from the water pump. Begin by removing the radiator side deflector RH using a clip remover to take out its 6 clips; afterward continue by removing the radiator side deflector LH that requires the wire harness clamp be detached first along with removal of the 6 clips using the clip remover tool. Finish the process by removing the radiator assembly through bolt removal of the 4 bolts. Installation begins with screwing the radiator brackets onto radiator support holes followed by tightening the radiator with four bolts to 18 N m (184 kgf cm, 13 ft. lbf). Fasten the 6 clips to each side deflector along with restoring the wire harness clamp. The proceeding sequence includes first mounting the fan pulley on the water pump and then placing the shroud between engine and radiator with its coupling fan. It is vital to maintain the radiator core intact before installing the fluid coupling fan through water pump holes with hand-tightened 4 nuts. The shroud installation continues with attaching its claws to the radiator and installing and torquing the shroud to 6.5 N m (66 kgf cm, 58 in. lbf). Next, connect the reservoir hose to the radiator tank upper and install the fan and generator V-belt. After properly tightening the 4 nuts of the fluid coupling fan to 21 N m (214 kgf cm, 15 ft. lbf), securely connect the radiator hose inlet and outlet then fill the system with engine coolant while checking for leaks until you reinstall the V-bank cover followed by the No. 1 engine under cover.
