    Q:
How to remove the water pump on Toyota Land Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure for water pump removal starts with detaching both left and right side front fender splash shield sub-assembly. The first step involves taking off the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly and draining the engine coolant from it. Remove the V-bank cover sub-assembly and subsequently detach the air cleaner hose assembly and the air cleaner assembly. The removal process for the No. 1 and No. 2 radiator hoses must be completed before the fan shroud is taken out. You can disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly after taking off the No. 6 water by-pass hose while removing three bolts. When you finish you can disconnect the water by-pass pipe from the water hose. Moving on, detach the water inlet housing by first disconnecting the air pump connector along with the air pump connector clamp holder followed by the No. 2 and No. 3 air hoses and the air pump connector. Then remove the wire harness clamp using a clip remover and disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose, remove the air tube bracket bolt, disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose, and finally remove the 3 bolts and the water inlet housing together with the gasket. The removal of the water pump pulley requires Special Service Tools: 09960-10010, 09962-01000, and 09963-01000 to grasp the water pump pulley followed by disassembling its 4 bolts and the pulley itself. End the water pump assembly procedure by removing the eight bolts and water pump assembly together with its gasket.
