2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the clutch master cylinder on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: Service and repair of the clutch master cylinder requires fluid drain and brake master cylinder subassembly together with brake booster assembly removal as the first step. Start by disconnecting the clutch reservoir tube through the process of unclipping the tube then catching the fluid with a suitable container. The next step involves disconnecting the clutch master cylinder flexible hose tube by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while using a container to retain the fluid. Starting with the removal of the clip and hole pin from the clutch master cylinder push rod clevis allows you to unscrew the 2 nuts for taking out the clutch master cylinder assembly. The clutch master cylinder kit requires a pin punch [diameter] 5 mm with a hammer to drive out the slotted spring pin before you remove the inlet union and grommet followed by lock nut loosening and subsequent removal of the push rod clevis and lock nut and finally removing the boot from the cylinder body. Use snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring during piston rod pressure until you safely detach the push rod followed by the stop plate and piston with spring from the cylinder while avoiding damage to the cylinder body interior. Begin the reassembly by smearing lithium soap base glycol grease on designated parts before putting the spring-loaded piston inside the cylinder followed by attaching the stop plate to the push rod and then positioning the push rod properly onto the cylinder body. Use snap ring pliers to place the snap ring when a technician pushes on the piston rod. Afterwards, install the boot followed by the lock nut and temporarily attach the push rod clevis with the lock nut. The process requires installation of a new grommet along with the inlet union followed by driving the slotted spring pin. The clutch master cylinder assembly installation requires two nuts tightened at 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) with MP grease applied to the hole pin and bush contact area before joining the clutch pedal assembly through the hole pin installation of the clip. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to connect the clutch master cylinder to the flexible hose tube while tightening to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). The clutch reservoir tube requires connection to the clutch master cylinder assembly with a clip which should be positioned straight. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to bleed the brake master cylinder followed by performing clutch pipe line and brake line bleeding when the brake reservoir tank contains clutch fluid. As the last step inspect brake pedal height then adjust the clutch pedal subassembly while examining brake fluid leakage and clutch fluid leakage and the reservoir fluid level.
