2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: Service and repair of the vacuum brake booster starts with draining brake fluid followed by cleaning all paint surfaces affected by fluid. The service begins with removing the air cleaner assembly then the brake master cylinder sub-assembly before disconnecting the vacuum hose assembly through clip sliding. Special Service Tool 09023-00101 enables users to disconnect the No. 5 front brake line. The vacuum brake booster repair process requires Coupe models to first remove the front door scuff plate LH and the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH while Convertible models should perform identical component removals. The next step requires removal of the clip from the instrument panel finish lower panel LH and the brake pedal return spring along with the push rod pin before moving forward with the procedure. Proceed to remove the brake master cylinder push rod clevis through push rod lock nut loosening then pull out the brake booster assembly while being cautious to avoid damaging brake lines and the wire harness through 4 nut removal. Before mounting a fresh brake booster gasket, professionals remove it first from the assembly which gets secured using 4 nuts tightened to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Begin with brake master cylinder push rod clevis installation. Then install the push rod lock nut by adjusting the brake pedal height before final torque application. Install the push rod pin followed by the brake pedal return spring and then add the instrument panel finish lower panel LH to the vehicle. The technician should reinstall cowl side trim sub-assemblies LH first for both Coupe and Convertible models followed by front door scuff plates LH. Reinstall the No. 5 front brake line using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while torquing it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and connect the vacuum hose assembly by sliding the clip. You must check and adjust the certified brake booster push rod before you install the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. Begin by filling the brake fluid reservoir followed by bleeding the master cylinder and brake line and after that you should install the air filter assembly. Lastly check the reservoir fluid level while looking for leaks and adjust the brake pedal height.
