2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: The procedure for vacuum brake booster repair starts with fluid drainage followed by cleaning all painted surfaces touched by fluid. The installation of special service tool: 09023-00101 enables operators to remove both the air cleaner assembly and brake master cylinder sub-assembly. First remove the front brake tube No. 5 through the use of the same special service tool after de-clipping the vacuum hose assembly. The service requires removal of three parts: the front door scuff plate LH together with the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH and the instrument panel finish lower panel LH. Disconnect the push rod clevis by first removing the brake pedal return spring together with push rod pin and lock nut. The brake booster assembly requires the removal of 4 nuts followed by brake tube and wire harness protection until the brake booster gasket can be taken out. Place a new brake booster gasket onto the brake booster before installing the brake booster with four nuts which should be torqued to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Keep both the brake tubes and wire harnesses safe from damage. Reattach the push rod clevis followed by the lock nut but first set the brake pedal height correctly before torquing the lock nut. Begin by using soap base glycol grease on the indicated area after placing the push rod pin followed by its clip and then install the brake pedal return spring. Place the instrument panel finish lower panel LH together with the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH and front door scuff plate LH back in position. The front brake tube No. 5 needs to be installed with Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 where a 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque should be applied before attaching the vacuum hose assembly through its clip. Adjust and inspect the brake booster push rod using tools Special Service Tool: 09023-00101, 09737-00013, 09737-00020 before reinstalling the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. The procedure requires brake fluid addition to the reservoir followed by brake master cylinder and brake line bleeding using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. Installation of the air cleaner assembly must occur before checking fluid levels in the reservoir and inspecting for leakage as well as brake pedal height adjustment.
