2005 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake booster assembly on 2005 Toyota Solara?
A: The brake fluid draining process should commence before brake booster assembly replacement while washing off painted areas that stay in contact with fluid. Unfasten the brake master cylinder sub-assembly while simultaneously removing the air cleaner assembly through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. Sliding the clip allows the removal of the brake booster assembly vacuum hose as a whole. Use Special Service Tool 09023-00101 to remove front brake tube No.5 after which you need to remove the front door scuff plate LH, cowl side trim sub-assembly LH and instrument panel finish lower panel LH. First disconnect the brake pedal return spring followed by the push rod pin through its retaining clip until the brake master cylinder push rod clevis becomes loose. You need to detach the brake booster assembly after removing its 4 nuts and pulling it gently to protect the brake tubes along with the wire harness. New replacement gaskets must be installed once the old ones are removed from the brake booster. Reinstall the brake booster assembly via the 4 nuts which should be torqued to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.), doing so without harming brake tubes or wire harnesses. First adjust the brake pedal height through push rod lock nut tightening before installing brake master cylinder push rod clevis and the push rod lock nut. Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the specific part before installing the push rod pin followed by its clip after which install the brake pedal return spring. The installation process includes placing back the instrument panel finish lower panel LH, cowl side trim sub-assembly LH, and front door scuff plate LH in that sequence. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to install front brake tube No.5 with 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque before attaching the vacuum hose assembly to the brake booster along with sliding the clip. Connect the vacuum hose assembly to the brake booster while sliding the clip. Adjust and inspect the brake booster push rod with Special Service Tools: 09023-00101, 09737-00013, 09737-00020 before installing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. Bleed the master cylinder using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 before bleeding the brake line and reinstallation of the air cleaner assembly followed by reservoir fluid check and brake fluid leak inspection and brake pedal height verification.
