2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake master cylinder on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: The service and repair process of the brake master cylinder starts with draining the brake fluid then cleaning any fluid contact from painted surfaces. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 together with a level warning switch connector disconnection to remove the air cleaner assembly and brake master cylinder sub-assembly. The two nuts need removal before pulling out the assembled part. Move forward by taking off the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly followed by the strainer and then removing the reservoir sub-assembly after unscrewing it. To eliminate the master cylinder reservoir grommets follow the procedure of placing the master cylinder in a vise to remove the O-ring while pushing in the piston and using snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring. To extract No.1 piston sub-assembly keep the piston straight and maintain distance of 100 mm (3.94 inches) between rag to wooden blocks during extraction process. Proceed with the brake master cylinder with VSC kit by employing tape on the screwdriver tip before using it to remove the straight pin. Reassembly requires application of lithium soap base glycol grease on new No.1 and No.2 piston sub-assemblies before careful installation without damaging rubber lips and final attachment using a new gasket followed by torquing the piston stopper bolt to 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.). The snap ring and new O-ring must be installed before applying grease to the two new reservoir grommets. After screwing in the reservoir sub-assembly you can proceed to install the strainer and the filler cap assembly before securing the master cylinder sub-assembly with two nuts torqued to 13 Nm. First attach the master cylinder sub-assembly with two nuts then secure them at 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Attach all six brake lines using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 before securing them at 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and the level warning switch connector. The last set of tasks involves filling the reservoir with brake fluid then performing a bleed on the master cylinder along with brake line before fluid level checking for leakage and reinstalling the air cleaner.
