2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the wheel speed sensor on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: To work on the wheel speed sensor you need to first take off the rear wheel then disregard the skid control sensor wire. Disconnect its connector. After putting matchmarks between the rear disc and axle hub start removing the parking brake. Keep making small adjustments to the shoe until the wheel rotates smoothly. Once the wheel comes off, prepare the rear wheel service and repair. Press the 4 bolts off the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH to take it out. Install the rear axle hub on a vise with soft jaws and replace it when the axle hub and bearing faces harsh impacts. Insert the pin punch tool into the 2 pins on Special Service Tool: 09520-00031 and hit them with a hammer to detach the 2 attachments from Item Number: 09521-00010. Use Special Service Tools: 09520-00031 and its components including 09950-00020, 09521-00020 to remove the skid control sensor from the rear axle hub. Protect the sensor rotor and keep the contact surface free from scratch. To put the product in place cleanse the axle hub and new skid control sensor contact surface before placing the sensor straight on the hub using Special Service Tool. Afterward push the sensor in evenly while making sure the sensor stroke area stays free of debris. Place the rebuilt rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH to its location with four bolts, tighten them to 80 N.m (816 kgf.cm, 59 ft.lbf), then install the rear disc part by matching and inspecting its runout during a new disc replacement. Reinstall the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH then fasten the skid control sensor wire before returning and torquing the rear wheel to 103 N.m (76 ft.lbf, 1,050 kgf.cm). Examine the wheel alignment and test the ABS speed sensor data before completing the service.
