2007 Toyota Sienna Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the rear speed sensor on 2007 Toyota Sienna?
A: Start the 2WD rear speed sensor service by removing the rear wheel and dividing the skid control sensor wire through connector removal. You should mark drum brake and axle hub points before uninstalling both components but simply detach two rear brake caliper bolts first to reach the rear disc of disc brakes. Secure the rear axle hub to a soft jaw vise then take off both the LH rear speed sensor and axle hub & bearing assembly. Replace the axle hub without delay when you drop or severely shock it. Strike the pins at both attachments with the pin punch and hammer to detach them from Special Service Tool. Use the tools 09520-00031 or 09520-00040, 09521-00020, 09950-00020 with two bolts (12mm bolt, 1.5mm pitch size) to detach the skid control sensor from the axle hub. Substitute the hub assembly when sensor rotor damage occurs and prevent damage to contact surfaces. Start by cleaning the surfaces of the axle hub and the new sensor. Then place the sensor on the hub connector. To install the sensor using Special Service Tool: 09214-76011, apply gentle slow pressure to the press without striking the sensor. Reassemble the left rear hub and bearing unit then reinstall the brake component using accurate matchmarks as installation reference. Put two bolts into the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH before connecting the skid control sensor wire and placing the rear wheel back. Then test the ABS speed sensor signal after aligning the rear wheel when needed.
