2007 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the rear trailing arm on 2007 Toyota RAV4?
A: The servicing process of the rear trailing arm starts by removing the rear wheel and disconnecting the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly. The rear trailing arm assembly removal on the LH side includes uninstalling the 3 assembly bolts together with the nut and trailing arm from the axle carrier and suspension arm bracket with careful fixation of the nut when unscrewing the bolt. During installation of the rear trailing arm assembly use the three bolts and nut to attach it to the axle carrier and suspension arm bracket before fixing the nut and continuing bolt tightening. The rear wheel along with the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly needs installation while maintaining 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) torque. Tighten the rear trailing arm assembly LH through securing its 3 bolts and suspension arm bracket nut where a torque of 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs., 2,039 kgf-cm) is required before final rear wheel alignment checks.
