- Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Pump on 2006 Toyota Tundra?A: Start the service and repair process of Power Steering Vane Pump (1GR-FE) by mounting the vane pump assembly in a vise using Special Service Tool: 09630-00014 (09631-00132) but avoid excessive tightening force. Start the procedure by detaching first the bolt and suction port union and continuing to remove the O-ring from the suction port union. The service requires removing the pressure port union and flow control valve and spring as well as the O-ring from the pressure port union. The replacement of the oil pressure switch is required whenever it becomes broken or separated from its installation. You should first remove the rear housing's 4 bolts then free the O-ring from that chamber. Two screwdrivers help gently pull out the snap ring from the vane pump shaft with vane pump pulley before extracting the shaft; handle it carefully to prevent accidents because a damaged shaft requires replacement of the vane pump assembly. First remove the 10 vane plates by handling them carefully before proceeding with the vane pump rotor along with the cam ring and ending with the extraction of the side plate off the front housing. Additionally remove O-rings from both components.
