2006 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Steering Angle Sensor on 2006 Toyota Tundra?
A: Begin the removal of the Steering Angle Sensor by disconnecting the battery negative terminal alongside the requirement of front wheel alignment straight ahead. First remove the cover at steering wheel lower position No.3 before moving on to the one at lower position No.2. The removal of the wheel pad will start with a torx socket wrench (T30) that should be used to untighten both torx screws until their circular groove engages with the screw base before extracting the pad from the steering wheel. You should use a screwdriver to disengage the Air Bag connector while keeping the steering wheel pad with its upper surface oriented toward the ceiling and never take apart the pad. After disconnecting the horn connector the steering wheel pad can be removed. First remove the steering wheel set nut and add matchmarks to the main shaft assembly as well as the steering wheel. The wheel must be removed with Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021). The removal of the spiral cable starts by disconnecting 2 connectors and removing 4 screws. After disconnecting the connector you need to push the 2 claws before removing the steering sensor. The installation steps need to be performed in the exact reverse sequence as removal procedures.
