2006 Toyota Tundra Control Arm Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the front lower Control Arm on 2006 Toyota Tundra?
A: The installation of the front lower suspension arm proceeds through the use of 2 cams, bolts, and cam plates for attachment to the chassis frame while maintaining a 130 Nm (1,325 kgf-cm, 96 ft. lbs.) torque without causing damage to the power steering gear tubes while shifting the gear slightly backward. When the suspension becomes stable, line up the front and rear cam plate matchmarks with the same position on the chassis frame before torquing the bolts. The lower ball joint installation begins with attaching it to the lower suspension arm while torquing the nut then installing a new cotter pin at 140 Nm (1,450 kgf-cm, 103 ft. lbs.); when the holes are not aligned correctly increase the nut torque by 60 degrees. Secure the shock absorber to the lower suspension arm with a torque of 135 Nm (1,400 kgf-cm, 100 ft. lbs.) and connect the stabilizer bar link to the lower suspension arm at 69 Nm (700 kgf-cm, 51 ft. lbs.). When the ball joint rotates with the nut use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud. The power steering gear installation requires torque application at bolt A to reach 165 Nm (1,700 kgf-cm, 122 ft. lbs.) and nut B to 130 Nm (1,350 kgf-cm, 96 ft. lbs.) while bolt and nut C must receive 165 Nm (1,700 kgf-cm, 122 ft. lbs.). Connect the RH and LH tie rod ends to the lower ball joints through nut application and new cotter pins Torque to 91 Nm (930 kgf-cm, 67 ft. lbs.) and if the cotter pin When installing the front wheels to both sides finish the procedure by tightening nut and bolt with 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) torque and verifying wheel alignment.
