2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the rear Air Bag sensor on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: Before servicing the rear Air Bag sensor the technician must disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 90 seconds to deactivate the Air Bag systems. Move in this order by starting with rear seat cushion assembly removal then proceeding to the rear side seatback frame LH followed by disconnecting the rear Air Bag sensor LH by removing its 2 bolts and disconnecting the connector. The rear Air Bag sensor LH must have its 2 bolts installed with a torque set to 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 in.lbf). Replace the Air Bag sensor whenever it experiences a drop or presents any defects such as cracks, dents or basic structural deterioration. Keep the SRS wiring away from all other parts when installing and also maintain it out of reach of pinch points. Perform a check on the security of your installation parts before re-establishing the connector. Put in place the rear side seatback frame LH before adding the rear seat cushion assembly and reattach the cable to the negative battery terminal. Drain the air from the schema and refer to procedure descriptions to determine if initial system set-up is required because some automotive systems need it when performing battery connection and disconnection tasks.
