- Q: How to service the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly on 2007 Toyota Prius?A: Service professionals must detach the negative battery terminal cable followed by a 90-second waiting period before working on the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly due to Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation risks. Begin by removing both the instrument panel finish panel lower center and the No. 3 air duct rear. Next disconnect the center Air Bag sensor assembly after removing 3 bolts and separating its Air Bag sensor connectors. Installation of the Air Bag sensor requires securing it using 3 bolts which must have a torque value of 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Any Air Bag sensor replacement should happen when you notice drops or observe cracks or dents or defects since you need to replace it with a new one. The SRS wiring must not become trapped or pinched by other components during the installation sequence. Connect the Air Bag sensor connectors and reinstall the No. 3 air duct rear and the instrument panel finish panel lower center. Complete both steps by reconnecting the cable to the negative terminal of the battery followed by performing initialization because some systems need this procedure upon reconnection of the negative terminal cable. After these steps, check the SRS warning light.
